Benjamin's Experience by Benjamin Astbury
Current CHUNGDAHM Seodaegu Instructor

Dongseongno Street is the busiest street in the city and is packed with shops, restaurants, cafes bars, and pubs. The nightlife here is awesome. You can enjoy places like Outback Steakhouse, TGIF¡¯s, and even Starbucks. I go hiking at Mt. Palgongsan every weekend to get away and see the beautiful streams and rugged ridges surround the temples, and lots of rare cultural treasures spread throughout the valleys. Since there is a nearby US Army Base (Camp Henry) there are a lot of foreigners in the city, especially on the weekends. I have taken exciting weekend road trips to Gyeongju to experience its nationally-famous cultural heritage, Andong to experience its deeply-rooted Confucian culture, and Goryeong to learn about the brilliant Gaya culture. All of these cities can be reached from Daegu within an hour or so drive. Also, Seoul is only a three-hour train ride away!
